PSU will offer undergraduate coursework in the afternoons on the campus of the Comité Paraguay Kansas (CPK) in Asuncion, Paraguay.  These general education undergraduate courses will be taught in English.  Students will be able to take up to 25 credit hours per year for two years, for a total of 50 hours of coursework.  Students can complete their degree program on the Pittsburg, Kansas campus.  These academic credits, which will apply toward a bachelor’s degree at PSU, may transfer to other Kansas or US universities and colleges.

Admission Requirements

Paraguayan students will need to meet the regular admission requirements of Pittsburg State University for international students which include earning a TOEFL score of at least 68 (internet), 520 on the paper exam or 190 on computer-based test, or IELTS score of at least 6.0 with minimum band scores of 5.5.

The I-20 required for international students studying in the U. S. will not be required for students studying in Paraguay as part of the PSU in Paraguay program. When students come to Pittsburg to complete their degree they will need to complete all documents required of international students.

General education courses that apply to most degree programs will be taught from 2:00-5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.  One course at a time will be taught for 25 credit hours per year totaling 50 credit hours over two years.  Each course will last approximately four weeks, then the next course will be offered.

Pittsburg State University professors and adjunct professors who hold at least a master’s degree in their specific or related field and are either native English speakers or have earned a satisfactory TOEFL score will teach these courses.

Tuition and Fees

Tuition and fees total $325 per credit hour for the 2021 and 2022 calendar years (January - December). Payment must be made in U. S. Dollars. The cost of books for each course will vary and are not included in the tuition and fee payment.

The History of the Kansas and Paraguay Partnership

The Kansas Paraguay Partnership (KPP) was created in 1968, along with its Paraguayan counterpart, the Comite’ Paraguay Kansas (CPK).  Pittsburg State University has received numerous students from Paraguay over the years.  Currently, 12 students from Paraguay are pursuing degrees on the PSU campus in southeast Kansas.  In recent years, groups of PSU students have traveled to Paraguay for study abroad experiences.  The history of cooperation between the Republic of Paraguay and the State of Kansas fostered by the CPK and KPP make the expansion of cooperative programs between PSU and Paraguay an attractive opportunity for students and faculty.
