Our professors teach students how to bring their passion for teaching children to the classroom in order to become the teacher that their students will remember the rest of their lives.

Beginning in the first semester of their sophomore year, students spend over 1,000 hours in elementary classrooms working with children and mentor teachers in Kindergarten through Grade 6. In this role, students practice teaching strategies and classroom management techniques that help them to meet the needs of all children.

Your time in the Elementary Education program will lead to a Kindergarten through Grade 6 teaching license.  And by adding one of our innovative and hands-on minors, you can add an endorsement to your teaching license or certificate in

The faculty in the Early Childhood Unified program come from the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences and the Department of Teaching and Leadership. They also serve as academic advisors for the program.
