In contrast to the Bachelor of Music or Bachelor of Music Education programs, students in the Bachelor of Arts program will complete a minor area of study, and many will choose to declare a double major. Bachelor of Arts students likewise have access to in-depth study with specialists in their applied area, and they enjoy numerous opportunities for performance experience in solo and chamber contexts, as well as in a great variety of large ensembles.

The facilities at Pittsburg State include superb performance venues, including the critically-acclaimed Bicknell Family Center for the Arts and the Sharon Kay Dean Recital Hall. Students have access to excellent instrumental resources across the university, including professional-level percussion instruments, outstanding grand pianos, harpsichords, and the Fisk Opus 106 organ.

Because Bachelor of Arts in Music students also major or minor in other fields, this degree can serve as excellent preparation for those who wish to pursue many different career options. Please note, some of following fields will require graduate degrees or other additional study.

  • Music Business
  • Retail Music
  • Recording Engineer
  • Artist Relations
  • Arts Management
